Selfish Sewing Week Progress – Day 2

I hope everyone is having a great time sewing for themselves.  Some of us don’t do it nearly enough so setting aside a week to sew things that have been on our list is always fun.  I love seeing what everyone is sewing up.

Since I powered through a long night making the Evergreen Jacket for Day 1 I knew Day 2 was going to be sort of a rest day for sewing.  I am also in the middle of pattern testing my next pattern, Laurelhurst, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to sew up the latest tester version of the wrap to see how the fit was evolving.

Selfish Sewing Week Progress: Day 1

My Selfish Sewing Week is off to a wonderful start, and at this rate I am going to have a whole bunch of great new pieces for my wardrobe.

The main pattern that was on my MUST list for this week is the Evergreen Jacket from Hey June.  As I mentioned in my introduction post for this week, I had the pattern purchased within minutes of reading it was available.

I knew this was the perfect pattern for some grey sweatshirt fleece I had from Girl Charlee, not only is it going to be the perfect weight to give this jacket substance but it will be super cozy on cool spring nights.

Since I create women’s sewing patterns I sew for myself a lot, but it is usually sample sewing and I rarely sew other things for myself.

I love having a week devoted to setting aside those projects you have to sew and focusing on sewing things for yourself.  There is one thing I am sewing this week that has been on my list since it’s release and I just haven’t gotten it done.

Here is my plan for the week:

New Outfit for Date Night

Date nights are a rare thing around here.  So when we actually take the effort to find a babysitter and pick a restaurant it always feels like a new shirt/skirt/dress is in order.  I like any excuse to make something new for myself but a date night is the best reason.  I could be completely making this up but I like to think that my husband appreciates the extra effort I went to to look nice for a date night.
