Woven Mini Hudson Pants

If you remember from my April Sew the Year post I mentioned that Benny got the best pair of grey cord pants from my mom.  As soon as I saw them I couldn’t get woven mini hudson pants by True Bias out of my mind.  I knew my guy would look adorable in a pair of twill pants so that is just what I did.

Now when sewing a knit pattern in woven I knew I would need to make some adjustments.  Thankfully with an elastic waist it made that process really easy.  After looking at his measurements I just went up 2 sizes and then cut the elastic to fit his waist.  Can you tell from the picture below, he was ready to play at the park instead of take pictures, ha!

The only change I made to the pattern was to hem the bottom instead of doing the elastic casing.  Without the knit I was worried it would be tight at his ankle and I didn’t think about bringing out the bottom hem on the legs a little until it was all cut out.  But in the end they worked perfectly in their current length and will grow with him through the spring and summer.

Both of my kiddos are super skinny and getting taller by the day which can be a struggle to find pants that work for their bodies.  Benny has been living in leggings for the last couple years but I think as he heads to kindergarten next fall it will be good to have some other easy to fit pants in his wardrobe.  This pattern is such a quick sew and will be a great assembly line project for both kids to get ready for school in the fall.  How is it even possible my baby is headed to kinder in the fall, ahhhhh…

Such a great pattern, I really look forward to sewing up a bunch of these woven mini hudson pants for my kiddos.
