Sew the Year – February Recap

Yesterday I shared with you my sewing plans for March and so today I get to share my Sew the Year February Recap.

If you haven’t been following along with Sew the Year I recommend going back and reading all about it here.

In February I went really big and tried to focus my makes on items that have either been in progress or on my sewing radar for a long time.  This included 5 different projects and while I didn’t complete them all I am happy with the 3 I did make.

When making these plans I hadn’t really factored in the fact that I was going to be releasing a new pattern that would require me to sew 3-5 versions before and after testing.  That really cuts into my extra sewing time.

The most important thing to remember about Sew the Year is that you shouldn’t feel bad about not getting to a project.  We all have lives outside of sewing so let’s celebrate what you sewed and not worry about what you didn’t get to.  You are not alone.

The first project and the one I am probably most proud of is my Watson Bra!

By just taking the project one step at a time it was not nearly as intimidating as I thought it would be.  Now I am inspired to make more.

The next project I tackled was my Turia Dungarees, I am pretty darn happy to finally not have this project mocking me from the in progress pile in my sewing room.

The last project was completed right under the wire this weekend, but man it is a good one.  My Maxi Wedgwood skirt is so comfy I just want to wear it all the time.  It is a really easy make so you should make one too.

Now for the projects that didn’t get completed.

I had every intention of making the Camas Blouse in this great black and white striped fabric.  But it was just calling to be made into my newest pattern Phinney Ridge.  But don’t worry I have plans in May to finally sew this pattern with a solid wool knit I got last week.

Surprise Surprise I didn’t get to the Thurlow Trousers again!  I feel like a broken record when it comes to this pattern and not because I don’t want to sew it, but I just keep running out of time.  So I am going to put them on the back burner for a few months and hopefully some time will free up between pattern releases to actually get them done.  I want well fitting pants and shorts gosh darn it.

How did your month go?  Did you have projects you wanted to get to and didn’t?  Or did you blow through your plans and even accomplish extra projects?

I want to hear all about it!

Glad that for the most part your month went well. I used to be the slowest tester, maybe that gives me empathy when I have a slow/tardy tester occasionally.
