Turn a Bad Day Around

Being a stay at home parent to two kiddos under 4 can lead to some challenging days.  Some days I deal with it gracefully and then other days I am crying to my husband over google hangouts while he is trying to work.  Not a proud mommy moment but when it comes to naps I depend on them and the little bit of a break I get in a day.  Today was definitely one of the crying days when naps just weren’t happening.

New Outfit for Date Night

Date nights are a rare thing around here.  So when we actually take the effort to find a babysitter and pick a restaurant it always feels like a new shirt/skirt/dress is in order.  I like any excuse to make something new for myself but a date night is the best reason.  I could be completely making this up but I like to think that my husband appreciates the extra effort I went to to look nice for a date night.

Sewing for Me – Pocketful of Posies Dress

Man, I am on a roll!  I have sewn more for myself this week that I usually do in a month.  It is nice to focus on my own wardrobe every now and then.  Especially with Kids Clothes Week coming next week when I will be solely focused on my littles.

Melissa of Melly Sews just released her newest pattern the Pocketful of Posies Dress on Tuesday.  You may notice a pattern lately but the second I saw it pop up on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter or I don’t remember now I scooped it up.  Hard to pass up on a pattern that is not only cute but bound to be super comfortable.

Sewing for Me – Julia Cardigan

When Haley of Welcome to the Mouse House released The Julia Cardigan at the beginning of December I snatched it up that day.  I knew it needed to be a part of my wardrobe in all of the different options.

As usual life got busy and I never got around to making one for myself.  I finally remedied that last week and the finished product was just as amazing as I knew it would be back in December when I bought the pattern.  How is it possible that I waited this long to actually sit down and sew the pattern that ended up taking less than an hour to do from start to finish.
